The PhD research project proposes an alternative to existing processes in the field of conductive inks by developing conductive inks based on metal nanoparticles, which is a very attractive low-cost technology. Conductive inks based on copper nanoparticles synthesized by radiolysis. The synthesis takes place in aqueous solution and the reducing species (solvated electrons and radicals) are derived from the irradiation of solvent. It is a ‘clean' process, which uses neither organic solvent nor chemical reductants. Composite nanoparticles will be also synthesized. The synthesized metal nanoparticles and nanomaterials will be characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for determination of the size, composition and structure of particles.The electrical conductivity will be measured by Kelvin four-point probe technique. X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) will be used for determination of the oxidation states of metal nanoparticles and study their interaction with the support polymer.
