Résumé

While 3D printing is currently a major challenge for the whole of industry, extending its use to the field of construction in a sustainable way requires to reconsider methods and materials usually used until now. The coupling between material and printing process requires the use of new characterization methods that fulfill the representativeness of the complexity of load cases. This study aims to extend the use of this 3D printing process of cementitious materials to the underwater environment. This highly unfavorable environment leads to material leaching issues that should be considered to fulfill its integrity. Limiting the washing out of the material is crucial: this involves limiting occurrence of cracks, limiting the affinity of the material with water, and limiting the consequences of the strong anisotropy induced by the printing process. A first part of the development is thus devoted to the study of the mechanisms of appearance of these cracks and therefore a characterization of the material properties at the failure point when submitted to several loading cases, ranging from the most common (shear), to the most original ones (tensile and compression): the development of new characterization devices is therefore part of this study. Once relevant mix design levers to limit the water sensitivity of the material thus determined, a second part of this study will focus on the analysis of its origins from a rheological point of view. The consequences of these induced washing out aspects of the material on its durability are covered in a third part of this report by an in-depth analysis.
