In the future, home networks will combine four worlds. Computer communications, digital entertainment services, telecommunications and smart applications. This proliferation of services and facilities yields to a more and more complex management for home networks because management systems used in other types of networks, such as corporate networks, are not suitable for users of home networks. That is why intelligent management systems find their way into homes. We have developed an intelligent system that has the role of managing the entire home. Using techniques from artificial intelligence, our system can collect information at different points of the home to populate the knowledge base and thus make the right decisions so that all services can coexist and be consistent with expectations. Regarding security, we committed to implement two authentication systems, one that authenticates Internet access from an ISP and the other that takes care of the authentication of people to access the home network. On a broader scope than just home networks, we also made our contribution to the difficult task of designing protocols with a Post-IP view. We have proposed a design method based on the composition of functionnalities with a header-driven model.
