The aim of the present study is threefold : At first, it is shown how the thoughts of Pascal concerning anthropology guide to the recognition of the destruction of the very concept of human nature. Secondly, it is shown how the theory as well as the practical use of language in Pascal follows the idea that every expression depends on something that has not yet been expressed or that cannot be properly expressed. Finally, the problems left unsolved by Pascal are approached with the instruments of hermeneutics and more precisely with the concept of a dialectic of interior and exterior, the concept of a conflict between letter and spirit.
