  • Abstract

    Towards the end of the fourth century a. D. , vegetius wrote a treatise de re military dedicated to the emperor theodosius ist. Vegetius proposed a reform of the army to resolve the military crisis undermining the late roman empire. During the millenium after the fall of rome, vegetius was the most read military author in western europe.

    Vers la fin du ive siecle de notre ere, vegece ecrivit un traite de re militari dedie a l'empereur theodose 1er. Vegece proposait une reforme de l'armee pour resoudre la crise militaire qui minait l'empire romain tardif. Pendant le millenaire qui suivit la chute de rome, vegece fut l'auteur militaire le plus lu en europe occidentale.
