Résumé
In 1903, louis lumiere patented a color photographic process, known later as autochrome process. The collection of the banker albert kahn (at boulogne, france) gathers more than 70. 000 autochromes plates dating from the 20's and showing color views of france, indochina, ireland, japan. . . These pictures are the rare color testimony of the past, but for how long? the harmonious color rendering bring us to overestimate their permanence. There is no references to establish that none variations has occurred on these plates. We have undertake a research which aim is to study the long term stability of autochrome plates and their constituents. At first, it was necessary "to fathomed the mystery" of the plate by analysing autochromes and reproducing its preparation. Then, accelerated aging was performed on constituents like dyes and varnishes, or on reproduce and original plates; that enables us to predict the evolution of the plate during storage.
